Walking in Your God-Delegated Authority
There's a moment most believers know well — something feels off. A subtle unease settles in the room, a relationship starts fraying at the edges, a thought pattern begins pulling you somewhere you know you shouldn't go. And the instinct for many of us is to drop to our knees and ask God to do something about it.
That instinct comes from a good place. But here's the thing: He already did.
The Nudge Is the Signal
The Holy Spirit doesn't whisper without purpose. When you sense that nudge — that quiet check in your spirit, that moment of "something isn't right here" — that's not God inviting you to panic. That's your Commander giving you intel.
Creflo Dollar has long emphasized that the believer's walk is one of partnership, not passivity. God is not sitting in heaven waiting to be convinced to intervene in your life. He has already intervened — through the cross, through the indwelling Spirit, through the authority He deposited in you the moment you were born again. The nudge of the Holy Spirit is your cue to move, not to freeze.
Sensitivity to the Spirit is a skill, and like any skill, it sharpens with practice. That means staying in a posture of awareness — not anxiety, but attentiveness. There's a difference. Anxiety scans for threats. Attentiveness stays tuned to heaven's frequency.
You Already Have the Goods
Andrew Wommack makes a point that rattles a lot of religious tradition: many Christians are praying for things God has already provided. We pray for peace when peace has already been given (John 14:27). We pray for strength when we've already been told that we are strong (Joel 3:10). And we pray for God to handle our spiritual battles when He has already handed us the weapons to fight them ourselves.
This isn't about arrogance. It's about stewardship.
The Greek words exousia and dunamis — both translated "power" in various passages — paint a full picture of what believers carry. Exousia is delegated authority, the right to act on behalf of another. Dunamis is the dynamic, explosive ability to do. Jesus used both when He commissioned His disciples (Luke 9:1), and that commission didn't expire when they left the room.
You carry legal authority and explosive capability. Both. Right now. The question is whether you're using them.
Stop Running Back to Headquarters for Orders You Already Have
Here's where grace gets practical. Gregory Dickow often brings this point home with refreshing directness: the grace of God is not just about forgiveness — it's about empowerment. Grace is what makes it possible for ordinary people to exercise extraordinary authority. You don't have to earn the right to use what God has given you. You just have to use it.
When we run back to God begging Him to remove something He's already equipped us to address, we're not being humble — we're being passive. And passivity in the face of spiritual opposition has consequences, not just for us, but for the people in our sphere of influence. Your family, your community, the people who need you to show up equipped — they are affected by whether or not you exercise your authority.
2 Corinthians 4:18 reminds us to fix our eyes on what is unseen, because the visible is temporary. Colossians 3:2 tells us to set our minds on things above. These aren't just devotional suggestions. They are tactical instructions. When your mind is anchored to heaven's reality, you don't get rattled by what you see in the natural. You respond from a position of strength rather than reacting from a position of fear.
Responsibility Is Part of the Package
Authority always comes with responsibility. You can't accept one and decline the other.
We are responsible — to ourselves and to those around us — to stay sensitive to the Spirit's nudges and to act on them. Not someday. Not after we've prayed about it for six more months. When the moment comes, you move. You speak. You stand. You use what you have been given.
This is the practical life of a grace-empowered believer. It's not reckless. It's not presumptuous. It is simply taking God at His Word — believing that He meant it when He delegated authority to you, and honoring that delegation by showing up ready to use it.
The armor has been provided. The authority has been granted. The Spirit is nudging.
Suit up. Show up. Act.
